In the book “Forge” by Laurie Halse Anderson, the author examines a theme of racism through the eyes of her main character Curzon’s interactions with other people. Curzon encounters people in everyday life who exhibit racism towards him. Curzon also experiences racism from people in power. He also experiences racism from soldiers who he serves with in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Even though Curzon encounters racism from people he encounters in daily life, people in authority positions, and even other soldiers, he eventually is treated as an equal by a few people.
